only boy in a band...
« on: March 08, 2006, 07:51:27 PM »
hi, ive kind of heard that the miracle man is better for a lone guitarist than the nailbomb (which is better suited to dual players due to its increased mids)...im just checking if this is true as i just happen to be a lone guitarist in a three piece band.

I play mostly hard rock (ala Muse)...but am also partial to metal, surf rock and punk (i also like to experiment)...im looking for quite a high gain bridge pickup with nice crunch that is capable of all these styles...ive got an alder bodied super strat and was wondering which of the two would best suit my needs?

any help would be great... :P

i haven't tried either, but i'd have thought nailbomb- it's always the one recommended for a vareity of styles (including metal).

In this case take the Nailbombs...I think Matt has a few Nailbombs in his live guitars.

The Miracle Man has a stronger low midrange, so it fills space. But because of the diverse range of tones you're looking for its a +1 for the Nailbomb!

wait a minute since when has Muse been hard rock lol

I've got a nailbomb and its definately designed for heavy metal but I roll off the gain and play mostly hard rock/80s pop very organic sounding. No idea what the miracle man sounds like, guess zack wylde tone which I don't dig. I don't think u can go far wrong with the nailbomb that is untill the "Rebel Yell" comes out wooo!

hi!

when i read 'only boy in a band', deep down I was hoping that you were the guy from the Corrs - any chance of hooking me up with some phone numbers

What amp are you using, anyhow? I get a really great crunch tone from my VHIIs into a JCM800, but the solo tone doesn't quite have enough 'ooomph' for my tastes since I've got a Crawler - although the Crawler doesn't crunch as well as the VHII. Swings and roundabouts.

I'd guess you can't go wrong with a Nailbomb though, they seem to cover a lot of ground, even the clean sound is really nice.
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away...

yer theyre definately a lot of things.... hence my stance on why sub-genres suck.... just put em in brit-pop or rock and everyones happy.

id say theyre like melodic rock... cause a lot of their stuff is actually qutie 'heavy' if you think about it its just so melodic you dont really notice it.... not heavy as in metal kinda heavy though...
