BKP installation questions
« on: September 27, 2013, 08:08:17 PM »
Hi,

Just bought my first set of BKP's.
Bridge: juggernaut
Neck: VHII

I was wondering if I'm mounting them correctly, like on this pics?

The weird thing to me is that, with the other passive pickups in that guitar, all the pickup wire was coming from the other side.
If you hold the guitar in a sitting position, the pickup wires are on the 'upper side' (left on pics) with BKP's?
The holes for the pickup wires are on the other side (side of tone and vol knob).

Usual orientation of humbuckers is that bridge wire exits bottom right and neck one exits upper left.

That results in the screw coils being the outer ones.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

I see, the juggernaut pickup has screw coils on both sides, but the whole pickup is probably symmetrical, so it shouldn't matter?

Rather symmetrical, yes. Keep with Felineguitars advice and you will be fine for the standard way. Otherwise it is no biggy, but the coil active when split will be the outer one, which you may or may not want.

Alright I'll do that.
Thanks for helping me.

Screw coil on neck toward the neck, screw coil on bridge toward the bridge is the standard way.

That said, I have reversed the Cold Sweat in the neck of my SG so that both screw coils face the bridge, just so that I can adjust the pole pieces up to compensate for the neck angle
