ESP-M103FM modification help
« on: October 26, 2013, 10:46:30 PM »
Hello all,
I recently ordered this ax as a mod guitar.  I want to replace the bridge pickup with an Aftermath and the 2 single coils with the Irish tour... opinions? would this work as I know absolutely nothing about pick up replacement. :(  If not then what would you'll recommend?

I see, should I go with a different maker for the single coils then or...? what do you recommend?

The main issue is that the IT is like a classic SC, but with a good amount of rock dust. So more mids, dirt and power, but in the end just an overcharged vintage SC. The AM on the other hand is a full on modern metal machine. Surgical, dry as the desert, etc.

Combining this super modern thing with those pumped up vintage ones just does not seem as good of an idea. I would rather go with either Trilogies or Sinners, rather the later. While they are still very much SCs, they also have modern take and are more likely to keep up with the AM in terms of power. Go baseplate if power loss is important to you. It just seems like more of a logical pairing.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

What sort of sound are you after? I assume with that guitar you play some sort of Metal but that covers an awful lot of ground. How do you know the Aftermath is what you want?
BKP owned:

Bridge - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; A-Bomb; Holydiver; Miracle Man; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

Neck - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; Holydiver; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

To me the sinners are just outright better than the trilogy suites at every thing and theyll give you the output you need to go with the aftermath theres nothing else quite like them.
