lol.
I came here to post exactly the same post. I have a 2nd hand setius arriving tomorrow or friday with the jazz/JB combo and I know I dont love the JB from experience . musically I'm in the same ball park as you . modern metal but not djenty or super brutal . stuff like katatonia
I've been wondering if the juggernauts would be a good suit for drop D .
do you find the setius bright ? some places I read its a fairly dark guitar/ others bright
Mongey,
I wouldn't say the Setius is either bright or dark. I do see why people would call it bright, but not bright in an Tele kind of way. It has a certain snap to it. I think this is due to the construction of the neck (bolt on and laminated Mah/Map/Mah/Map/Mah).
This is one of the reasons why I dont really love the JB in this guitar, since the JB tends to amplify this snap.
Also why I think the HD will be a good match.
I also wouldn't say it is a dark instrument, it does pack a mean punch in the low end (for a guitar that is), and again I think this is due to the neck construction.
So overal I think it's rather balanced instrument, with the exception of some peaks in the high mids (the snap) and the low mids.
I've also tried a SD Full Shred, SD Distiortion and SD Custom in this one......but so far the JB and Full Shred are the best ones I've tested.
I'm looking forward to trying the Holy Diver.
Does anyone have any experience with a HD/Mule combo? Do the mules pack enough punch to balance with the HD?
And how do the Mules and Emerald compare to a SD Jazz in the neck?
