pickups for the guitar im working on
« on: March 13, 2006, 06:29:03 AM »
I am thinking of setting my guitar up with a P-90 in the bridge and 2 strat sized single coils in the neck and middle.  I like the sultans and the trilogy suites best so far on the strat sized pickups, but as far as the bridge pickup goes Im not really sure what I want to do.  I have to get a new pickgaurd anyways and i could go with the regular sized P-90s or the mississippi queen.  Which ones would mix best with the 2 types of strat style pickups or should i just go with all 3 being strat style, I noticed that the bridge position clips ive heard have sounded pretty good.

BKP bridge strat pickups are very good, never harsh and thin like so many others!

However, P90s sound much fatter and stronger. Just by the different design and are a great inbetween compared to strats and humbuckers.

I'd partner a BKP90 (underwound) or BKP91 (standard P90) with the sultans, and go for the BKP92 (overwound) with the trilogies. The MQ would sit well with either I'd say. Plus you will be able to buy a scratchplate for the MQ! :)

I think I'll probably go with the sultans and the bkp90.  Im thinking about buying some pickups for my Washburn WV-60 first.  Its all mahogany with an ebony board, I think im going to go with the Mule and Mississippi Queen on that.  From what Ive been seeing on here thats an awesome combo.
