Power Supply on a budget
« on: January 24, 2014, 04:59:20 PM »
I rehearse using 2 pedals mainly, a Boss NS-2 and a Wampler Triple Wreck, I usually use a standard 9v adaptor and daisy chain the two.

However the other night I had some power problems when I maxed out the threshold on the NS-2. I was wondering if this was due to inadequate power supply. Bear in mind that I was plugging 2 into one adaptor into the wall to run the amp.

I might get a power supply brick just for rehearsals, I have the Trex Fuel Tank Junior but that lives in my pedal board and is used for gigs to power 3 pedals.

Seen a Harvey Benton brand but apparently its not that good.

Are there any budget power supplies for less than £40?

The Diago is £60. Generally it's good but it will have a tantrum with some pedals.

Yes, Harley Benton from Thomann.de

They have an isolated one and an un-isolated one. The latter can fit  a UK kettle lead.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII

Yeah I notice one has the 2 pin adaptor thing.

Cos I'm just using 2 pedals and its for rehearsal I shouldn't be that bothered about if its unisolated? Obvs live ten yeah cos I don't want that humming ground loop noise between songs and also we are a stop/start riffing band.

One pedal is all it can take to spoil the fun, but I'd try the un-isolated one first - it's just very practical with the switch and that you can put any kettle lead on it.

I ran into problems with a Boss RC-2 looper, which caused noise in my signal chain.

Hmm well how many mA is each output? I shouldn't think the NS-2 uses much and the Wampler Triple Wreck doesn't use much either, the NS-2 is always on too, not that this makes any difference.

Nowt wrong with Harley Benton stuff. I have the Isolated brick with a plug travel adapter (getting a UK plug put on it properly soon) and it's ace for the money.
