Hi everybody. I've got a Gibson SG Standard that I've had for years and I'm looking to breath new life into it. I already have plenty of guitars that handle every kind of humbucker situation I could ever come across, so it doesn't really stand out for anything as it is now. I currently don't have any guitars with a set of P90s though, and I've heard good things about P90s in SGs, so it seems like the perfect thing to make this guitar unique and a main player again.
I'm looking for something that mostly excels for cleaner, jazzier type playing, but can also take a bit of dirt. I'm playing in an old school prog rock project right now (think Yes), and I'm looking for something that'll give the SG a unique flavor through my AC15. My other axes are an Epiphone ES-175 with Stormy Mondays, a Gibson Les Paul with stock pu's (for now), an Epiphone Sheraton II with a Mule in the bridge and a Nantucket in the neck, a Fender American Standard, and an old Ibanez that I converted to fretless with Duncan singles in it.
So something that'll cover some different sonic territory that the aforementioned (if that's even possible). Something bright with a little bit of a hollow mid-range maybe (the guitar is very mid-dominant). Preferably something other than the Nantucket, since I already have the neck in another guitar, I'd like to try something totally new.
Any recommendations would be very much appreciated, thanks!
