I never really put any thought into it before, but do lefty guitars use normal pup or would the polepieces etc, be upside down?

They're just regular pickups, the only exception I can think of being Strat pickups with staggered magnets, left-handed versions of those are available.  :)
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Thanks!
Philly got it spot on - I've got left hand staggered Trilogies in my Strat, but the rest are all regular ones.

I've heard of right-handed players using left-handed Strat pickups (and a reverse-slanted bridge pickup) to try to get more authentic Hendrix sounds.

Fender made a model called the Voodoo Strat for a little while, that was a RH Strat with LH electronics and a reverse headstock.  I don't know if it came in a left-handed version!

What for, lefties should just buy a righty and turn it upside down.  :P

But then you'd have a right-handed Strat intended to sound like an upside-down left-handed Strat which would actually sound like a right-way-up right-handed Strat.

I think.  :?

(That's assuming they re-string it, rather than playing bass strings down like Albert King)

If it's good enough for Jimi, then it's good enough for us. :D
