Has the Bare Knuckle R&D team got onto testing these yet ?

I've got a Chaverl Surfcaster that needs warming up a bit as the
stock pickups are very very bright.

Thanks in advance

Absolutely............rewind no problem but there's no plans to produce them as demand is very small especially with the associated problems of fitting.

Thanks for the reply Tim

Rewinding would be cool  8)

The tone pot doubles as a switch for phase reversal.

Would this pose a problem Tim ?

I've not a clue what magnets are in them at present to establish if there is
any room for improvement. According the original brochure the pickups were made by Chandler. I've emailed them for pickup details, but at present havent had any reply.

My guitar is one with mahogany back and a flame maple top, bolted on maple neck.

Cheers 38thBeatle

It's got an incredibly clean sound when played through my Blues Junior.

It just makes me wonder how much the tone could improve with a rewind or magnet change

That's a very nice guitar, especially with that orange top.

A piece of completely irelevent information concerning Lipstick pickups:-

John Entwistle of The Who was going to record the bass solo on "My Generation" with a Danelectro Bass which was fitted with lipstick pickups. These basses had a very trebly, twangy sound which was not only down to the lipstick pickups but also the thin wire wound strings. As you could n't buy these wire wound strings seperately back in 1965 he bought three Danelectro basses. Unfortunatley the last string broke before he recorded his part and he ended up using a Fender Jazz with tape wound La Bella strings. I expect he passed the Danelectros over to Pete to smash up on stage.

God....I'm so full of useless information

I had the pleasure of meeting John many years ago and he showed me how to play the bass solo.He was an inspiration player taking bass guitar to new places.

Phase revers won't be a problem, just make a note of how it's wired up before sending the pickup in, all the phase reverse does is swap the two wires from the pickup over.

The bass player in the very first group I was in at school was in London for the day trying out equipment in some of the music stores. Although he was quite a good bass player, he became very impressed by the guy who he had been chatting to for several minutes in the shop. After this guy had played a particularly impressive bass run my friend turned to him and said "Here mate, you're ****ing good, what group do you play in?" The guy turned around to him and said "Thanks - The Who." Apparently John was a really great guy and still chatted with my friend for some time. Even so, our bass player was still bright red with embarassment when he returned fom London
