Versatile 7 string pickups
« on: July 30, 2014, 08:46:27 AM »
So I'm banging my head against the wall deciding on what to purchase next. Guitar is made from swamp ash, maple and wenge neck with wenge fretboard, I seem to prefer Alnico V over ceramic but open to them as well. Looking to cover a fair bit of ground with these pickups from blues rock to modern metal, warm cleans would also be a plus. I use a kemper so amp isn't an issue, so far I'm considering:

Holy Diver/Emerald
Alnico Nailbomb/VHII
Alnico BlackHawk
Thoughts?

I've been extremely pleased with the versatility of the Emerald set I put in one of my PRS SE Custom 24 7-strings, but that's significantly different construction (maple neck with rosewood fretboard, mahogany body with maple cap).

Yeah Emerald is another one I'm considering, although like you say it is completely different specs. Damn you, my 24-7 GAS has shot back up

Really liking the sound of the alnico black hawks, but the clip of the black dog is also awesome.

Tim, why make so many awesome pickups?!!
