Importing picks
« on: July 30, 2014, 12:57:46 AM »
I just found a 72 pack of my usual picks on ebay for £10.95 plus £4.70 delivery but the seller is American, just tried an import duty calculator and it says I won't pay duty or sales tax because the product cost less than £15 although the shipping provider may add an addition handling fee.

Am I good to go or should I be worried about additional fees?

You shouldn't have to pay anything extra - the £15 import limit is for the cost of the goods not including the postage (unless it's a big parcel sent by courier like EMS or something, then they do include the postage).

That said, Customs often $%&# up and if they do charge VAT they (or the Post Office) will also charge an £8 admin fee.  You can reclaim the VAT (if you can be bothered) but not the admin fee....
