« on: August 17, 2014, 12:04:57 AM »
I finally have the cash to buy some pups . Who do you think are the winners ?? Rebel yell in the bridge and the Emerald in the neck . I have an Epiphone LP Standard so that calls for a standard space in the bridge but what's the story with the legs ?? short ?? long ?? Can anybody develop or just to hit me with the answer ?? I NEED IT FAST !! Thanks

Don't know anything about your tone to pick the BKP, but short leg or long should be ok in a LP, although some people have said that the short leg bridge might not go up quite far enough. You should email BKP to find out for definate.

When you buy a set from BKP, you need to specify what guitar you own, so BKP won't let you order the wrong spec pup.

What are you going for?  I liked the Rebel Yell bridge in my LP Standard and I also like the A-Bomb that is in there now.  The Rebel Yell is more open, consonant, harmonically rich, and polite while the A-Bomb  has more hair, is more gritty, and misbehaved.  Neck pickup wise, I really like the Rebel Yell neck.  It is staying in that guitar.

I play everything from blues / lighter rock to metal and the Rebel Yell neck / A-Bomb bridge covers it all.

as far as i'm concerned my pickups are set pretty high and i don't like how they feel .

And Yellowjacket I play mainly classic rock and hard rock ....maybe just a touch of 80's metal :) I plan to put the A-bomb in an jackson kelly 32t :D

For your style that's a combo. Just experiment with the height, especially Rebel Yells are hard to set right.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I think you'd like the Rebel Yell bridge in a LP style guitar.  Be sure to upgrade the pots and caps because rolling down the volume pot gives some of those more classic tones and I'm betting you're going to make good use of them.

Neck, I'm going to try a VHII paired up with my Rebel Yell bridge but from what others say, the Emerald should work too.  I generally like a somewhat less hot neck pickup paired with a hotter bridge pickup since this gives me a more dynamic bluesy lead tone and a phatter crunch tone.
