Best BKP for Les Paul copy with alder body.
« on: August 27, 2014, 11:43:44 AM »
Hi guys! This is my first post,  so Hi everyone :)
At this moment I use PAINKILLER in bridge position.

Specs:
body: alder + flame top
neck: rosewood + flame
tunning: Drop C

My Guitar with this configuration sound bright and fast, but hight are to much shrill.
Soundcloud sample: http://soundcloud.com/pstry/les-paul-copy-bare-knuckle-painkiller-alder
At stage this guitar with PK sounds really cool. Typical "guitar" sound with lots of mids, but I'm looking for more beefy sound with tight lows, and soft highs.
Any sugestions? Nailbomb Alnico? Warpig Alnico?

Thanks for any help!

Ok, the 'alter' LP copy thing is throwing me.  What wood is the neck?  Guessing the board is rosewood?  How would you describe the tonality of the guitar when it is unplugged?  Is it overly bright or is it darker and warmer?

For a beefy sound with tight lows and soft highs, hmmm....
A-bomb is really gnarly sounding.  There is a lot of crunch in the sound as well as bite in the highs but the A-Bomb is definitely phatter, mellower, and still tight in the lows.

The Juggernaut is exactly what you describe, warm, phat, mellower, and still tight.  The highs are smooth and really purr, but at the same time, it has a very distinct voice.  It may work.

The other option I think about is a Holy Diver.  This also is smoother and warmer.

I would try a Holy Diver: enhanced mids, tight enough and one of the best BKP-leadtones.
