NGD ibanez frm100
« on: September 13, 2014, 03:15:17 AM »
Found one used for $300 so i grabbed it up! It is in great condition besides the fact that the first owner put acoustic strings on it and the fret board has a few scuffs (like using roundwound strings on a fretless bass). Everything else is in mint condition. It plays great, but I was expecting the neck to be a bit thicker. The neck is still much better than most Ibanez necks and has a bit of heft to it, bigger than my buddies '59 vos les paul

It sounds pretty good, but i am contemplating putting a sinner in the bridge and two trilogies in the neck and middle positions. I like that i can get straty tones, but don't have the issue on strats of the volume knob obstructing my pick hand (cant be fussed to alter my technique). The fireman is a odd looking guitar, but I always tend to by ludicrous things. I like the look of the guitar and have always like trans red finishes.

I will add pictures when i can, i dont have a camera and am totally cr@p at photography.
All I want to be is normally insane.

That's a bargain, congrats! I really like the shape. I don't know about the stockpickups. I must say that I like the tones Paul Gilbert squeezes out of his (reversed) Iceman.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

That does sound a bargain!

I was quite keen on getting one of those when they were announced, but I was put off a bit when they said the neck wouldn't be as big as the neck on the very expensive korina version.

We do need those pictures!
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

Here are a few pics, sorry for the quality, i had to use my phone camera.

The injector pickups sound pretty good, but were lower output than i expected. Sounds fairly unique, like a strat with more heft. The guitar resonates very well and is loud acousticly.

I've always liked the Fireman and at that price, how could you resist. Excellent catch there, I am a bit jealous I must admit.

I got a bit of a talking to from my wife, but I could not walk away from that deal. I really like the bridge on the guitar, it is very comfortable to rest my hand on and does not have any rough or sharp edges. It does take a bit to get used to the volume knob being the furthest back.

The tone knob works very well with these pickups and I've mainly been using it to fatten up the sound under gain, which works very well. The injectors also do not turn to mud when the gain is turned up, which is nice.

I am mainly playing through my orange or15 at the moment and it sounds great!

Oh lovely. I was really impressed with the sounds Paul Gilbert got outa his fireman and the marshall. Stellar rock sound, hardly ever seen live. It however also carried a certain unique flavour, and it was not just all in the fingers in that regard.

So congrats, that is one I would love to have as well.

Good score. I'm an admirer of the Fireman.

haha I am a huge fan of doom and sludge metal, orange amps just have a midrange response and tone that I just really love! plus the clean tones on the or15 are pretty good, even though im not usually a fan of el84 valves. One problem is the red fireman doesnt match colors with the Orange amp, but oh well.
