Coil tap confusion
« on: November 08, 2014, 04:50:01 PM »
I have just started to fit a nailbomb into a guitar that had a coil tapped hb in it before. I have wired it to the same points as the previous hb, and on first trying it the split coil tone was with the pot in, hb with the pot out. I have tried switching the green and white wires thinking this would cure it, but unfortunately not! Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Are you talking about a coil tap or a coil split?  Sounds like a coil split...

Do you have a pot with a 6 pin switch? If so, just swap the wires on the top two pins to the bottom two pins and vice versa. After that, the pickup should be HB with the pot in and SC with the pot pulled.

Good luck,

Hi guys. Thanks for your replies. I may mean coil split (single coil when pot pulled out, hb when pushed in). I'll have another crack at it today and stick up some pictures. Can't wait to get this beastie rocking again.

Cheers
