New amp! Mmmmesa
« on: February 10, 2015, 01:36:58 PM »

this Mesa Boogie Mark V twenty-five is just wonderful. each channel has 3 settings. the footswitchable eq is great. the built in cabclone is absolutely amazing. and overall the the tone i'm achieving is just beautiful. i havent done a proper demo of it yet but i did use the cab clone to DI it and do a full album guitar playthrough which i'll link below.

Very nice indeed.

It's still got a few too many knobs for my liking - too many settings for me to mess up - but I must admit I find that amp very appealing indeed.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

congratz!
But I still cannot stop drooling over that Dual Rect. Hopefully one day I will win in Euro Million or some other lottery and get one, so far I can only keep drooling all over the place

Very Nice!

This is on the list for when I manage to sell my ENGL Powerball.

How does it compare to the Roadster tone/gain wise? how close does it get to the full size mk V? I love my roadster but want something a bit tighter for Chevelle type stuff (they use mark IV's) but not losing that Mesa girth.

to answer a couple questions. yes, i still very much love my roadster. it is a beast and it does have a very special tone that this mark will never achieve but let me say that this mini size should not full you with its power. the cleans are beautiful and the heaviness this thing can achieve is just wonderful. i'm currently working on a playthrough of this amp so i'll be sure to show it off

as far as the "too many options" comment i can understand but its very easy to find a likable setting once you spend some time with it. like right now i'm really loving the fat channel on channel 1 with a bit of gain pushing it slightly. and i love the mark 4 setting with the gain a bit low. it really is amazing. the 10watt and 25watt modes are very responsive and different. definitely 2 different flavors. i definitely like the high gain stuff at the 25watt but the cleans work great on both settings.

i've never used a full mark 5 so i can't really comment on a comparison but i hear its very good.

all in all this thing has HUGE balls for what it is and tons of options if thats your thing. although its very easy to set and forget.

I'm sure it sounds great, and it looks like its built like a tank too
