What does the D-tuna do?

Basically, it allows you to go to drop D (and back) tuning with the flick of a switch.

If I do get a Floyd (still a long shot), it will not have a D-tuna, and it will probably be a Schaller string through with sperzels!  I did buy an Ibanez body (it will have a Nailbomb calibrated set with an Irish Tour middle, and the switching will either be Bridge HB/screw coil + IT/2 HB/neck Screw + IT/Neck HB with also Bridge SC/Bridge SC + IT/IT/Neck SC + IT/Neck SC,  or PRS switching with the IT on a separate switch to be added either with the other selection or by itself.  I haven't decided yet).

Mind you, Ben might get a Les Paul with P-90's before I get the Floyd
So many pickups, so little time
