6 string, 7 string and 8 string versions of BKPs
« on: April 23, 2015, 08:48:23 PM »
Hi there, folks!

I tried searching for topics as much as possible, but didn't find anything addressing to my concern specifically.

We all know that one of the things that make BKPs stand out above most pickups out there is the fact that Tim and the other folks actually pay attention to details when developing 7 and 8 string versions of their pickups, rather than just using the "same wires and turns on bigger bobbins", like other manufacturers seem to do.

Some of us have probably run into situations where the 7 string version of a pickup does not work as well as the 6 string version of it, at least on Dimarzios and SDs.

I have tried almost the entire line of contemporary BKPs, and some vintage hot as well, on 6 and 7 string guitars. I am recently entering the 8 string territory, and I was hoping if you guys could share your experiences with me: Which BKPs do you think work best on their 6, 7 and 8 versions?

For instance, do you think an 8 string Painkiller works better for the low F# than a 7 string on a guitar with 8 string tuning minus the high E? Does the 7 string Aftermath handle tons of gain better than the 8 string Aftermath?

Any experience you might have with different versions of the same model will be deeply appreciated!
