pole pieces experiment on CBomb and CS neck

Hi,
To be honest I never changed pole pieces heights as I was only playing with pickup heights adjustments until today and... it`s worth the hassle.
but long story short...
I keep my both bridge CBomb and CS neck quite low, but once I noticeably raised all pole pieces on both pickups (a little bit over a half of turn) it has brought both pickups to life.
It added overtones for sure and made pups sound less 'dull' and a bit brighte and clearer  I suppose.


In my opinion lowered CBomb/CS with slightly raised pole pieces helps a lot.

has anyone got any other thoughts/suggestions about adjusting BKPs in general, and CBomb and CS in particular?

I found the same with an A-Bomb when I had it in my SG.  lowered the pickup and raised the pole pieces

I`ve done that as well, but both pickups were too compressed and too hot, they were producing 'squashed' sound, once lowered they sounded more natural and rising pole pieces kept that sound and add 'liveness' and that 'spark'.

much more prefer lowered pickups with raised pole pieces.

I usually have them covered, so the poles are already risen up to fit into the cover holes

I actually did that experiement on uncovered pups years ago but I can't remember the tonal differences

yes, they are covered. Actually after that experiment, I started changing my opinion about CBomb cleans. They are surprisingly good for hi output ceramic pickup.
