Bridge for stockholm hb p90
« on: October 04, 2015, 11:05:09 PM »
Found i was not playing my hb guitar, stuck on mississippi queens in a donor prs se soapbar......so......Im going "up" a little to stockholm syndrome neck in prs bernie marsden (thick mahogony with thin maple cap)

Any suggestions for bridge? Stick with same pup or crawler hb?

I was going to put the queens in bernie but like the msQ guitar setup so figured something similar but different.
I read / searched forum and saw folk did Neck supermassive Bridge Stockholm, not seen stockholm neck combo. Not sure if i need HB at bridge, i could tap it with push/pull if so.

This will have 2xvolume and single tone

Well the stockholm neck is a serious beast, so a bold bridge is needed. I would mostly look at either a Stockholm bridge, a Pig90, or, if you want a HB, a Warpig. Most other ones would probably not keep up. Something like a Painkiller might work, but the voicing should not match as well as the ones I mentioned.

So yeah, probably either a Stockholm or, perhaps even better, a Pig90. Depending on your style of music maybe even the ceramic version of that one.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Is the ceramic magnet a standard option in the Pig 90 now?  Anyway that's probably the pickup I would get to match this, assuming that the style of music you are going for is fairly heavy

The Stockholm bridge is another one I would look at.  I have it in a single pickup guitar by itself and it is great.  I've never had the neck pickup.  As a rule though the P-90 sets seem to be closer in resistance readings between neck and bridge as a rule compared to humbucker sets; I am assuming there is a reason for that.

Standard is still the AV, but there is a long history of BKP being willing to do ceramic if you ask for it, even predating the official HS option. IŽd be shocked if that changed. I recon as long as you are nice you can still get that one. And it is supposed to be insane from what I heard. Really want one.

The C-pig90 is actually one of the few ceramic pickups I would consider getting. Just waiting for the cash and the right axe. Man, how I want that.

I think it would be really good in the 2011 SG Special '60s Tribute (soapbar) or the 2011 SG Junior '60s (dogear).

A dogear C-Pig '90 guitar would be my ultimate, LOL.

Thanks for your replies, leaning towards a bridge stockholm too based on feedback

Would i really have to jump all the way to a warpig for a HB?, i had guessed somewhere around middle of contemporary range like crawler.....what i mean us that  i didn't expect such a ramp up from MQs as i play them mostly clean and find them very glassy and near perfect. My aim was to be able to get similar with volume backed off but to gave more power available. Thought going just one step up would not make tge guutars distinct enough.

Cheers all

I think the A-Bomb would be the lowest output HB I'd run with a Stockholm neck

A Crawler would be a bit of an odd match tonewise.  The A-Bomb would be a better fit.
