Tried a Mesa Mini Rectifier

Really good, really really good. Practically plays itself.

Sparkling cleans, nice bluesy breakup. Then you go onto the gain channel and get all those modern rectifier tones. And on the vintage mode it sounds close to a late Ozzy period Black Sabbath kind of tone - Technical Ecstasy-ish.

Super hifi aggressive treble, tight low end.

Big grin time basically.

Just the mini 6505 to try. Not sure where I can find one.

Loved the Mesa though, its much better than youtube clips would have you believe.

I was considering this one as well, but went with the ENGL Ironball instead - because of the price and the power soak. I'm still pretty intrigued about the Mini Rectifier, it seems to be definitely one of the best mini heads. The 6505 MH demos I've heard haven't convinced me yet, they sounded a bit "soft", undefined and as if they lacked presence.

Curious to know how a mini 6505 holds up in a live environment, I think its only 20 watts or something but I bet you can turn the post gain up past 5! I have the 6505+ 120 watt head and I will be lucky to be able to turn it above 2.5! Every sound guy in the UK has said "turn down" haha.

Due to using the PA to control the overall sound rather than each individual's amp blasting out and competing against each other, I can easily do a gig in a busy pub with my TH30 set to only 7w AND the volume still set quite low. For tonal reasons I now use the amp on the full 30w setting and the volume at noon but I use an attenuator set to virtually zero in order to keep the volume low enough and then let the PA do the work.

I'm not too fond on rectifiers (I've owned the single and dual rectifier) and most of the mini amps, but even If I did like those, I'd stay away from the mesa mini rectifier

my friend and bandmate is one of the only amp techs in my city, so he works on almost everones tube amps here
he had at least half a dozen defective mini rectifiers on his bench
half a dozen tube amps of a recently launched big brand model is a lot, considering very few people even had any contact with tube amps here in my city (Salvador, Bahia, Brazil)

my point is that although it has a lot of features for a mini amp, the mini rectifier is not a realiable amp like its bigger brothers

Yep that's a massive red flag for me

I'm betting that the Peavey is more reliable.

Most likely they have been brought in to fix the hum that many have reported in the loop.  Maybe your friend is modding the loops?

Not liking rectifiers myself as well. However, I am interested in the Mark Five 25. The John Petrucci amp in smaller? Intriguing to me! Should be nicely versatile. Anyone tried one?

I never had Mesa's, except a Caliber that I actually bought for the second guitarplayer. I don't like the way the eq interacts. I do like the Maverick though and the Lonestar isn't bad either. Just a bit expensive for what it is.

I think all of them had problems with intermittent volume drop and some other problem

Couldn't find a 6505MH to try :/ but I have taken the plunge on something. More soon.
