"While We Sleep" - Abraxas = <3

I've retracked the majority of this with my Seafoam Strat; still has its purple Tele underpinnings, though.

It's also been remixed/mastered, but let me tell you..this song, in particular, has been the most challenging project I've undertaken yet.  Mixing this has been an absolutely strenuous and frustrating exercise, but I am learning still.  No challenge = no growth. It would be much less challenging without the vocals.

That said, it is still rough, but it's as good as my current skill set will allow it to be.  If I ever make it, I'll have a dude to sweat this out!

Updated - had to retrack with my Tele. Used the following amps/cabs:

Rhythm: JCM800/V30, Silverface Twin/TS, IIC+ Combo, 5150 Combo

Lead - Boosted Plexi + special concoction of fx.

Sound will collapse a bit in mono (iphone speaker), but shines on proper systems with two drivers.

Also has new ending :)

DAMNIT I LOVE THE ABRAXAS

I listened this one twice. What a nice theme and soundscape. You have great writing skills and musicality. I'm playing my tele more and more too. There is something about single coils...
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Thanks again!  I had an idea about taking the second chord of every chorus's first half and making dropping it to F - tried it and it makes it substantially darker sounding.  Might post that one up too.

This song has my fav lead tone of all of them.  I was inspired by some older Kenny Wayne Shepherd tones, where he uses an octave pedal to get a really stinging bridge tone.  It only works on certain octaves of the neck, but man it's profoundly fun.  I crafted that as my base tone and used 1 OD and 2 Fuzzes + a Flange to create a unique voice.  I'm obviously leaving out all of the compressors, EQs, reverbs, delays, etc..It's funny - now that I do this I get how people get bent on finding a certain tone from one piece of their gear.  If the tone you love was done in a studio - ALL bets are off.
