Changing humbucker mounting plate
« on: February 08, 2016, 12:00:33 PM »
I have a Sh-1 59 I want to put in a strat but the legs on the base plate are to long, I have a sh-4 JB with short legs so I might change them over or just buy a new short leg mounting plate.

Will I need to re pot the pickup after??

Both pickups are uncovered.

Probably not.

I did a base plate swap on a pickup I purchased off ebay - had to do it because one leg was badly bent and broke off when I tried to bend it into position. Put eveything on the new base plate and the pickup worked as intended without any adverse microphonics.

If it squeals you can always pot it afterwards.

Cheers Stephan
