Wiring help

I'm receiving a new set of bkp next week or so, and I can't seem to find the wiring diagram I need. It'll be a nail bomb in the bridge and a cobra in the neck, 1 volume and 3 way switch, and a coil tap on the bridge. Unless I'm being stupid and have missed it on the diagrams page, can anyone help with a schematic for this setup?  Cheers.

What pickup combinations do you want exactly?

With a regular 3-way toggle it will be diificult to access the coil tap on the bridge humbucker so you either need a push-pull volume pot or a free way switch.

If you use a push-pull volume pot, installation is pretty straight forward. You can take any two pickup guitar schematic (e.g. Les Paul or Telecaster) and wire up the pickups to have bridge, both in parallel and neck. Then add the coil tap for the split function on the bridge pickup. You get five different tones. Only downside is that for the transition between split bridge + neck to full bridge you need to hit two switches.

This can be avoided with the free way switch but this is more complicated to wire.

ah, sorry, forgot to mention that. want to have bridge, both and neck on the 3 way switch. and the coil tap just for the bridge pickup on a push/pull pot. the difficulty with switching between those tones won't be an issue, i'll only be using the split in certain instances, and  to very often so it'll be ok. think i'll definitely go with the push/pull option, as making the wiring more difficult will be something I'm not willing to do. plus i like the push/pull knobs.
so any schematics will do, will the wire colours match the same to BKP wires?

Go to the BKP website. Under the support tap you will find wiring diagrams and schematics. Diagram 7 (the coil tap for the humbucker) and 8 (for the three way toggle and volume control) should provide all the information you need to wire this up. And you already have the BKP wiring code in these diagrams.

Right, I've had a go at planning out how to do it... (I'm not great at this... Can you tell.. ) and I'm not sure if I've got it right at all.

i tried this yesterday, and for the most part it's worked. first thing, there was a massive volume difference between the bridge and neck, the bridge was so quiet, and i've lifted the pickup to the point where if it gets any higher....the screws will pop out. (couldn't use the long screws supplied as it's direct mounted and the screws in the guitar originally were pointed not flat)

the only thing i changed from the diagram, is that the wire from the top of the 3 way and the wire from the middle lug of the 3 way got swapped, as per what was already done on the guitar, seemed easier. so the middle log (3 way) goes to the volume, and the top of the 3 way goes to ground. the main problem i have is that the coil tap isn't working at all. i've wired it to the lug on the pot that all diagrams i've seen say to...but it's not working. could it be that it should go to a different lug?

The coil tap should not go to a lug on the volume pot - that would make the pickup run as single coil at all times - maybe that is why it is lower in output than the neck pickup. The coil tap (white + green together) should go to the middle lug on the switch (not the three way toggle that selects the pickups but on the push-pull pot). On of the outside lugs on the switch should be connnected to ground so that in one switch position the coil tap is grounded for single coil operation and in the other position it is disconnected for humbucking operation.

The volume pot is the coil tap, and I've got the green and white on the middle lug. I've tried it on others with no success.

This is what it looks like. Green and white middle lug of the coil tap... The white on the left going to the 3 way toggle, middle white going to the jack, and the black on the right going to ground. This is correct yes?

But... When you say one of the outside lugs of the switch. Be to ground... Which one?

Never mind... Fixed it now.

In that picture the ground wire from either the top or bottom lug was missing.

Yeah, I took a semi educated guess thinking it might be that. Most of the time with wiring it's a bloody ground thing. I thought though at first seeing as I'd grounded the pot I wouldn't need to ground the switch part as well... Evidently I was wrong. Works now anyway. For a first attempt at wiring in pickups, and with a coil tap... Don't think I did too bad. Just need to test them through a proper amp now.
