Hey folks. I recently ordered a Miracle Man for the bridge position of ESP LTD Elite/E-II Horizon III, based on the recommendations of others on this forum. The guitar has 500k pots in both the volume and tone knobs. I happen to have a spare BKP 550k pot to go into the volume pot, as I have a push-push pot that I want to keep in the tone knob. What tonal benefits would I get from the 550k pot in the volume knob as far as these tone woods and pickup are concerned, out of curiosity?

It will open the sound up slightly, you'll notice it primarily in how clear the top end is. About the same effect as removing a tone control from a circuit.

Also if the '500K' pot that is in there now is under spec then the difference could be substantial.

On the other hand if it is over then it might be slight.  Tolerances can be 10%.  The 550K pots someone sent me were just 500K pots that tested 10% over spec
