Band Camp, Anyone?

Has anyone heard about Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp?

Some info from the site:

You'll spend 5 days and nights jamming with the greatest rock legends leading up to the huge Battle of the Bands live on stage at the famed B.B. King's Night Club in Times Square where numerous stars have played.

Rock n' Roll Fantasy Camp Highlights include :

•  Small group instruction from Celebrity rock 'n roll musicians (campers are placed in a band with a rock star counselor for the entire camp duration)

•  Play and write your own original song with a rock 'n roll celebrity
•  Perform live on stage to a sold out audience at a major rock venue (i.e. B.B King's Times Square)
•  Master class sessions in drums, bass, guitar, songwriting, etc. with the industry's best stars
•  Experience the fantasy life of a rock star
•  Take home a DVD of you jamming at the final night's Battle of the Bands
•  10+ hours of daily jam sessions with your band and rock star counselors
•  Daily meals with celebrity musicians and campers

And then you get to the price: $8500 USD  :(  Oh, and that doesn't include accomodation.

I guess rock and roll is more about the money than anything else these days.

So, ok, I'm sour because I can't afford it, but still!

I saw part of one on tv a while back. Elliot Easton (The Cars) was one of the instructors. All the bands had to do a couple songs with Roger Daltry at the final show.

They actually have the Simpsons clip on the official site!

You do get a fair bit of stuff out of it, I guess, but it just seems, well, so much aimed at Dakine's car dealership guy that the company would probably drive most of us crazy.  Yuppy band camp.

Last year it was in LA; looks like NYC this year. It looks like a cool event, but, realistically ... you can take a LOT of master classes for that kind of money, and will end up a much better player. The only interest I had in last year's was the chance to meet Jeff Pilson (who rocks).

Oh yeah, as for all the hype about BB King's. It's a cool venue, but SMALL. If the gig were at the theater in Madison Square Garden, the Beacon theater, Irving Plaza, or the Roseland ... now, THAT would be interesting!!!
