I think the Cold Sweat would be fine for that style

I just find it difficult to get really dark heavy tones out of it in my SG when I want them

Okay, last questions.

I set up the SG for C today and jammed all day, and I found the bridge to be a too bright and "brittle?" and while the neck pickup wasn't bad, I'm looking for a little more of that deep, full, hollow(?) bluesy sound... if that makes sense. Output wise, I think they're fine. The neck pickup felt a but more powerful than the bridge, but I wouldn't want to go higher output on either for sure.

I'm about to order the Cold Sweats but I want to make sure you guys think it's the right call with these descriptions.

Also:

This guitar is buzzing (I'm recording DI to amp simulators) pretty bad. I'd say it's the electricity, lights, etc, but my other guitars aren't buzzing. Think it's the pickups?

I saw that it says one cap is preferred for bridge pickups and one is preferred for neck pickups.
How many do you usually order for a guitar?

What are the pickups?  The 490R/490T set that normally come with Faded models?

If so I doubt that it's the pickups.  I'd say that the difference between that guitar and the others is the shielding in the control cavity.  You probably have none or very little.

Go to the hardware store and buy copper slug tape.  Line the control cavity out with that, and be sure to test that the shield is continuous (use a decent meter with a continuity tester).  Make sure you ground the shield by soldering a lead to it and the other end to the back of one of your pots.  If you have more time you could try using the shielding paint.

How do the Rebel Yells compare to the Cold Sweats?

The neck pickups are very similar, the RY is a bit brighter and lower output. The big difference is in the bridge pickups. RY has more upper and center mids whereas the CS has a flatter midrange. That flatter midrange however can make it sound dark in some guitars. I had it in three different guitars and it sounded best in a very middy guitar. In the LP Custom it was too dark so I switched back to the RY. For kicks I also tried it in my PRS Custom but it was screechingly bright in that guitar - the Crawler went right back.

I have not tried the RY in any other guitar than the LP Custom it is in.

Cheers Stephan

Maybe Riff Raff bridge in the SG?
