Classic Vibe 60s vs Mother's Milk vs...???
« on: October 19, 2016, 12:05:17 PM »
Hey everyone, this is my first foray into the replacement pickup world.  I've emailed BKP about what I'm looking for, and they've come back with Mothers Milk with an Irish Tour bridge, and also to consider a baseplate.  From all i've seen and heard of the MM it seems to be something I'd go with.

However, my current pickups will find their way into a HSS guitar, so my question now is, the Mother's Milk far enough removed in voicing, or am I going to have two guitars that sound pretty similar?  if so, is there something else I should be looking at?

I generally play pop and classic rock style of music, and I'm wiring up a neck/bridge blender pot.

I'm pretty keen on capturing a John Mayer vibe, which the CV60s do to some extent, but I'm looking for just a bit....more!  If there's nothing that much different to what I currently have from BKP, then I'm open to recommendations for something smooth, vintagey and versatile (but still with a hotter bridge with baseplate)

I would consider the Pat Pend 63's with a baseplate on the bridge too. They are great for that tone. You can also improve the tone by installing a bigger steelblock for the trem or replace the whole unit. That could make quite a difference. I don't know if you've done this upgrade yet.
