Ceramic Vs Alnico Warpig

For most situations I prefer the ceramic one. Its still thick and mean, but has a tighter bottom end and improved clarity for high-gain applications. I love the Warpig in brighter guitars, such as maple neck-thru ESP/Jackson styles as well as bolt-on alder/ash guitars. In a Les Paul or a PRS it also sounds great, albeit warmer. The alnico Warpig I think would be cool if you want a bit of a fatter, looser sound, or perhaps to tame extremely bright guitars.

I have the Warpigs in an ESP Horizon-I and its the best tone ever. I pair it with a Sinner in the neck :)

The A-Pig is very good for doom stuff.

I have one in my SG Special tuned down to C Standard

For a faster style like grindcore or death metal I would probably pick a C-Pig.

I was leaning towards alnico cause the mids cut better and they have a certain grunt to them and the treble cuts just as well judging from the sound clips

Don't judge too much from the sound clips. The ceramic Warpig has tons of cutting mids and growl. It depends on what guitar its going in and for what purpose. If you're playing lower tuned rock or metal, definitely the ceramic version. If youre playing more classic rock or stoner/doom stuff, the alnico one is probably the better way to go. The ceramic one definitely has increased clarity and tighter response, with that delicious low mid roar.

I'm not a fan of alnico in the neck. The neck is a warm position as it is. Any cons to the ceramic or pros of the alnico in a soloist?

All of the options for magnets in the BKP range are only for the BRIDGE pickup.

The Black Hawk, Warpig, and Nailbomb are available with either an A5 or ceramic magnet

The only neck humbucker in the range with ceramic magnets is the Painkiller

The Juggernaut bridge combines alnico and ceramic magnets

Brighter neck pickups in the BKP range are the Riff Raff, Impulse, Holy Diver, and Nailbomb neck pickups

My soloist is a nato body which from what I understand is like mahogany. Will the c pig be too bright and be lacking in mids for this guitar or will it be just fine?

Man, I thought I had decided to order the miracle man set for my LP custom, but now you guys have me wanting the C-pig.. 

Seriously though, anyone use one in a Les Paul? It it took dark or anything? Would it be too much pickup to run in front of a dual rectifier?

C pig in all mahogany iby sz 320 sounds brutal...but in maple toped sz 520 sounded bit harsh and trebly in the top end area...I had A pig in alder/maple viper it was perfect match and it sounded like fater/clearer 498t...same pickup in all mahogany viper it sounded too fat and bit more dark...C pig is much faster and agressive...A pig is fuller clearer it feels has less gain...both can be brutal in right guitar...

If it is a neck-thru the neck material will be most important.

If it is a maple neck-thru I would probably go for a Miracle Man

Your in luck. They use a lp custom into a peavey 5150 and a mesa mark iv for the humbucker modern metal clips
