A more modern / aggressive Crawler?

I have a couple of ESP Eclipses, one of which has a Crawler set in it and in many ways these are the ideal pickups for this guitar (more or less a slimmed-down Les Paul). So, for my other Eclipse I'm looking for a pickup set that is similarly thick and full bodied but a little more "modern" and more aggresive than the Crawler - I am thinking possibly Juggernaut or Alnico Warpig. What do you think?

To round, middy and yeah more vintagesounding if you are used to Nailbombs and other modern BKP's.  Indeed a tad too soft for metal.

I agree, if what you like about the Crawler is a softer voicing with versatility, the Alnico Warpig will do the job as Dave says.

fans of the Crawler talk about the abundance of mid-mids that the pickup has. it may be a bit too modern for you, but if this is an aspect you like, consider the Aftermath. it has plenty of mid-mids, modern aggression, a tight low end and just the right amount of attack. i consider it a very versatile pickup, but only for metal and modern hard rock.

I am indeed after something a little bit "metal" but modern metal rather than old school. The sound that I've got in my head is full bodied but without too much brightness - an A Bomb almost does it but in this guitar it's a little too bright. I've been recommended the Holydiver but the clips seem too bright and, dare I say it, old fashioned? Although I don't play djent, I think that is the sort of sound I could be after - so I was thinking Jugs or possibly even Aftermaths - I am quite partial to a bit of Paradise Lost and I know that Aftermaths feature in their sound.

Holydiver can do a modern power metal type of tone if that's your bag.

I thought about the Juggernauts after I wrote my first reply, but I've never tried them personally.

The Aftermaths definitely sound modern, even when you play the classic stuff.

why not just install a ceramic magnet in the bridge and an A5 magnet in the neck Crawler? That would modern it up instantly

Juggernauts are powerful with a nice bite, but they aren't 'trebly' like the A-Bomb, which makes them better for leads and cleans as well as crushing rhythm tones.

You don't have to Djent when you play them.  In reality, Djent is it's own technique, where you pop the strings to get more of a 'twang' in the attack.  If you play traditional metal, they'll respond more that way.

I own a Crawler. It is the bridge of a Super Strat. I agree with you the Crawler is not a modern, aggressive pickup. While it has a high DC resistance, it is definitely more of a vintage hot pickup at least in terms of voicing. I can play rock on it, but it is certainly not for heavy styles, which I am fine with.

I have played a Juggernaut in an ESP Eclipse. I am not a djent guy at all, but I was really impressed with the Juggernaut. It is lower output than the Crawler, but it is definitely more modern. The way I would describe it is it has enough power/aggressiveness to play metal (the guitar was in drop C). It is tight on the low end, but it is versatile enough to do other styles besides just metal. It sounds great clean, which you might not expect from a djent pickup. Since it wasn't my guitar or amp (it belongs to a guy I know, and I played it at his place), I can't say definitively how close it is to the Crawler (the specs on his guitar versus mine are also quite different), but I guess what I am trying to say is I like both pickups, so you might as well.
