Emerald Bridge in the Neck position? (UPDATE: Pickup Tested)
« on: April 27, 2018, 01:27:02 PM »
Was wondering if anyone has ever put an Emerald Bridge in the Neck position ( and what did you think?)
I'm used to Cold Sweat Neck pickups ( and Bridge) and love them, but I have a Emerald Bridge, that, while I like it, I am more partial to a Cold Sweat Bridge. So before I throw it in a guitar, any thoughts?
 Thanks!

Well I tried it out in the Neck tonight, not bad at all, was articulate with single notes, creamy neck tone as expected with great sustain,  I think I still like a Cold Sweat Neck a bit better, it paired well with the CS bridge I have in the guitar I tested.

The Emerald bridge is higher output than the Cold Sweat neck and could be a bit overpowering. Might work well with some other (higher output) bridge pickup, e.g. a Painkiller.

Like I mentioned, I had a Cold Sweat in the lead, seemed like a pretty nice balance and pairing.

Interesting. I would like to see a full review of it someday, as I have been thinking about moving things like that around myself. Mainly a MQ neck in the bridge paired with a PAF neck. Thoughts only though....so far.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n

If I have the time , I'll try and write something up ( time has been at a minimum lately, helping with my father) I only have 5 posts , but have played dozens of pickups over the year's, I do know what I like when I hear it ( just hope I can write something as informative as some of the other reviews here :)
