I've recently been trying to fit a set of cobra pickups in my Richie Kotzen signature model red strat and not having much joy. Ultimately it seems the pickup cavities arnt deep enough so I need to dig them out a bit more. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problems? Also I've quite easily managed to thread two of the pickup holes so need to repair that too so am thinking of attaching a steel nut to the pickups, is the material used on the pickup base plates super soft? It just feels like bad design to me.
