OK, was bored and had some "apple bucks" in my iTunes account.
Anyway, been listening/downloading dome of Glenn Tipton's album "Baptizm of Fire".
Now, he aint no Rob Halford but he does ok, but wow he has some darn fine guitar tones going on there.
Kill or be killed has a brutal tone.
Paint it Black is def. a diff. cover

I was thinking of getting this album the other day but i ended up buying some Mr Big and Tony Macalpine instead. Is it anything like what he does in Judas Priest?

Not really, think of more extreme either side of Priest.
He has some slower stuff (but not ballardy) which is cool and then some brutal tone stuff (Loving "Kill or be Killed"). Check it out on iTunes or amazon.com to get an idea. He also does a pretty cool rendering of "Paint it Black".
Not really like Priest but v.good nether the less. Heck it was done with John Entwistle and Cozy Powell so kinda hard to be naff with that kinda company :)

Don't forget ... there's a new GT solo album coming out SOON.

FIRE is a great album. GT's been a huge inspiration/influence on my playing. I have endless respect for his writing style & method. The man KNOWS what he wants from a song!!

Ditto. After the first time i heard Painkiller, i had to listen to pretty much anything by Priest and i've loved every solo he's done. amazing phrasing and tone.

I personally think he is WAY underrated as a player. Due to him being a "dual guitar" player with Ken I think he gets left out alot.
I think you have to register with the site, but if you go the Priest site there are some videos of Glenn talking about his guitar collection which is very cool to watch, the guy really is "down to earth" :)

New album will be cool Ben, no Entwistle or Powell anymore though :( VERY sad loss to the world! I thought it was just a re-release with two added tracks?

Also impressive (to my mind anyway) is Glenn's minimalist rig. In these days of effects out the wazoo he used a pre-amp and a stack! Very refreshing, especially so for fans who cannot spend oodles of money to try and emulate their favourite player.

'British Steel' & 'Point Of Entry' were two of the first rock albums I ever got into (my Dad's) - Tipton is a mean mother$%&#er of a player, very underated.

I love Priest so I'll have to find some of this Tipton stuff... I LOVE Painkiller, soo heavy, the drums at the start are just amazing... then the guitar screams in... then halfords manic vocals haha I need to listen to it now.
