Favorite Telecaster single bridge / hum neck combinations
« on: August 21, 2020, 09:18:17 AM »
Hi guys, just wondering what your favorite combinations are for a Telecaster with a single coil bridge and a humbucker in the neck where both pickups are usable without having to adjust the amp when switching between pickups. I'm looking for something versatile. Doesn't have to be vintage correct and can be higher output, but not metal only. I'm assuming something like a fatter single coil and a brighter humbucker, so I'm thinking Flat 50s bridge and Stormy Monday neck.

With which S-H Tele combinations did you have the most success?

Flat 50/52 - Bluenote or Nantucket neck. That would be a great set. I love P90's in telecasters (in the neckposition).
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I haven't got the experience with Telecasters but recently I've been thinking the Cobra-T and Impulse neck might be a good match.

I don't think they would be too hot but probably too contemporary if you are looking for a more traditional Telecaster vibe.

Tele single coils with a neckhumbucker that would work (for me):

Flat 50/52 + Mule or RiffRaff neck (AV) - that would be a fat single coil and a brighter neckhumbucker if you choose RiffRaff

Yardbird + Mule neck (both AIV) -  balanced and articulate set

Brown Sugar + RiffRaff-neck (AV) -BS has more spank than the Flat 50, but with a nice mid growl. Considering the polysol wire it could be a nice match with the Black Dog-neck

Old Guard tele + Old Guard hb neck or Stormy Monday (AII)

True Grit tele + True Grit HB neck / VHII neck / Black Dog neck

Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
