Which Bareknuckle Bridge Pickup for this guitar?
« on: May 08, 2022, 09:32:16 AM »
Hello, I have an Anderson Pro Am. It has a basswood body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. I'm looking for a Megadeth tone. Take the song The Right To Go Insane for example, Trust, and the like.

Thanks for the input!

Short answer: Holydiver. Thick aggressive mids, addictive singing lead tone.

Long answer: Holydiver, unless your guitar is very dark acoustically, as the top end is quite smooth. If your guitar is lacking in high end or is bassy or boomy, then maybe look at the Rebel Yell.

I also had a nice chat with Ben at the Guitar Show in Birmingham this weekend, and he touched on the Holydiver and the Silo, as they're not wildly dissimilar. The Silo is apparently a bit thicker in the low end (The Right To Go Insane clip there is fairly chunky, but that's probably the Mustaine sig actives rather than his JB/tweaked JB "Thrasher") and has a bit more high end cut, but being symmetrical coils and double screws rather than the asymmetrical coils of the Holydiver, it's less open at the very high end. I haven't tried one, so I'm just going on what I was told, so take this with a pinch of salt until someone who's had both chimes in.

So to summarise, Holydiver is your first port of call, but also consider the Rebel Yell if you want brighter, or Silo if you want thicker.

I really love the “HolyDiver” calibrated set in my Charvel CS So-Cal (2008) I also have a Trilogy Suite in the middle.
I’ve had JB’s many years ago and between the two the HD sounds, feels and responds so much nicer.

I have the holy diver in a les paul. I like it a lot but I think I am going to put the silo in this pro am for something different. It's my birthday tomorrow. It will make a great present. My sister asked me what I want for my birthday so, .....

The wire colors for Anderson and Bareknuckle pickups are the same, so it will be a no brainer to install.

Silo it is!

Thanks!

I ordered the silo. Nothing fancy just open, black with nickle screws.

Thanks again!

Great stuff! I'd be interested to read your thoughts compared to the Holydiver once you've got it in.
