I'm building an lp copy (typical mahogany body, neck with maple cap) and will be using a set of mules or riff raffs (haven't decided yet, waiting on the clips!). Les Pauls are usually set up with 0.022uf caps and your schmaticis show 0.047uf caps. What is the difference in sound? Does one have a more useable tone range (no mud)?

When I asked Tim about it he said that he prefers the .022 as they are not as harsh sounding as the .047 caps.

If that's the case, why state .047 on the wiring instructions???

Don't know. If you look on the Seymour Duncan websites wiring diagrams they all show .047 expect for the wiring diagrams with single conductor wire. Those show a .022.

I think the .022's were used with PAF style pickups and the .047's with higher output pickups. :? I could be wrong. I guess it's all a matter of personal preference. :?

Yeah, sounds about right. I guess the 0.22s let a bit more treble through, and .047s will soften the treble a bit on hotter pickups.

Apologies, been away at LGS and now caught up in a monster back log of orders................ .022 was used on the PAFs and is less vicious than a .047 although the .047 does seem to find it's way into most modern wiring.The .047 reacts very quickly and a touch too much IMHO so I stick with .022 and at the moment am enjoying the Havland Musicaps.

fantastic price - 99p for 25!!!

They're fairly high quality caps (not audiophile, but higher than most) and sound great in guitars. I've tried swapping out the .022uF capacitor in my guitars with most types (ceramic, orange drops, mallories, sozos etc) and settled on the Mallories for giving me the best sound. They're also good for amps so if you have anywhere under 250v in your amp where they can be used you can use these and get a great sound.

Shipping was a bit high for 1 item, but I bought some other stuff from him so it worked out normal. Having said that, even with the shipping on top these are a bargain compared to what you'd usually pay for tone circuit caps from guitar orientated shops.
