New RG Project!
« on: May 13, 2006, 06:43:01 AM »
Hey everyone, I'm making a custom Ibanez RG (H/S/H) and I want to get a solid metal tone out of it so I've decided to go with BK pickups. I know in the bridge I want a Warpig, and I'm also considering one in the neck but I'm unsure of that, and that's why I'm here. I also want to know if a Sinner or a Trilogy would be a better single coil? I listen to modern metal; bands like Between The Buried And Me, Darkest Hour, Children of Bodom, Black Dahlia Murder, Dillinger Escape Plan, etc. I'll also be playing it through a 60 watt tube (a Peavey XXX 112 to be exact). Thanks for the help!

(thanks to Dave_mc for directing me to BK pickups :drink: hahaha)

Will do, good sir.

As far as the Cold Sweat goes, how do the cleans sound? I'm not a huge fan of cleans, but when I use it, I like it to sound bright and clear. What about a Warpig in the bridge/neck with a Trilogy in the neck (I'm trying to get as heavy as a sound as I can get with this guitar :D )?

Welcome.

Both HJM and myself have RGs and many BK pickups so my advice to you.

Warpig bridge - it's a monster and beefs up the sound of a trem RG while retaining harmonics, plus it splits well with the...

Trilogy in the middle - one of the few single coils that can sit with the Warpig

Go with HJM's recommendation for the neck (I currently have a Dimarzio FRED there so can't comment).

You say you want heavy so just in case you are thinking about this - I own a Sinner too but although it is very high output don't be tempted to put one in the middle of your RG - the Trilogy is enough.

Out of interest, dave, do you get paid for this? Half the people who post in here are UGers you've talked to.

Man, I wish I got paid..

Nope I'm just sat at home with a broken leg and a fair few BKPs instead of getting pi$$ed and chasing girls on a Saturday night.

3 more weeks to go, so I'm only here to help.

(BTW - Tim, that last cheque had "Banco de Toytown" written on it. Is that gonna take longer to cash?)

Well, then it's settled. Warpig in bridge, Trilogy in middle, and Cold Sweat in the neck. Now to find out how much it'll cost to get to Canada, haha.

Oh, and by the way Dave, I think genocidal tendencies was talking about Dave_Mc. He loves the BK's and suggests them to anyone searching for an amazing metal pup!
