Loop Switches
« on: May 22, 2006, 08:13:19 AM »
Hi All,

I'm sick of signal loss using effects and long cables and I'm therefore in the market for a loop switcher / buffer etc.

Now I discovered this product, the LOOPBONE:
http://www.tonebone.com/tb-loopbone.htm

This does amazing stuff:
-2 independent loops
-class A buffer amp with drag control (compensating pickup load)
-additional switchable class A signal booster
-separate tuner out
-possibility to remote control amp channels with loops/boost or even to remote control the other fantastic tonebone product: the switchbone (e.g. switch between two different heads using one cab)

Now this thing is expensive, but it can open lots of new possibilities and they say it's amazing quality components and design.

Anyone knows the product and can confirm whether the signal quality is indeed as good as they state on their site?

Anyone have any experience with loop-switchers in general?

Are people using the Boss LS-2? Is that "neutral"?

There is a popular loop switcher in the US, by the company Loooper, http://www.loooper.com. (Note, 3 O's there!)

HBE makes one, too, the Bychn Swychn loop switcher. http://www.homebrewelectronics.com/products.htm

I'm currently in the market for a looper pedal myself and have found 3 companies that sell what I'm looking for:

Monkey FX (UK based)
WOBO (Based in Poland I think, but good prices)
Loop Master (USA Based)

I'm sorry I can't provide URLs, but I'm on my sisters Laptop and don't have any webpages stored in favourites on here

I have a pedal from MonkeyFX and its great - you can specify exactly what you want too. Its well made and looks like it would take a lot of abuse! Website is http://www.monkeyfx.co.uk.
MM set, warpig set, about to be fitted - custom 7 bridge 'pig, CS7 neck.

These do indeed look good!

Now I have a new situation, as I scored a Headbone off ebay yesterday. That means I could remote switch between the Engl and the THD with the looper pedal if I take the Loopbone. Hmmm... need to make up my mind. Headswitching is really luxurious :)
