Neck pickup on Jackson to accompany warpig
« on: May 30, 2006, 10:59:14 AM »
Yo guys! I have a Jackson Rhoads guitar with a warpig at the bridge. For the neck, i need something with clarity that can hack plenty of gain, with good mid range, beefy bass an a nice high range, with plenty of sustain. But its gotta sound beautiful clean. I've had a look at the choices, and its between the stormy monday, the holydiver and the cold sweat. Any help, tips, or sound clips would be a great help.

Why not put a War Pig neck pup in? The set, together, is great.
Of the ones you mentioned, I would go with the Cold Sweat, but only if you're dead set against the War Pig.

The biggest variation in tone would come from using something like a Missippi Queen in the neck. Since your guitar and pickup choice scream metal, though ... I think that a lower output pup or P90 style pup will be too noisy for your taste. Especially since the War Pig is so dead quiet!

Just my 2 cents, tho.

LOL ... I meant more in terms of microphonics, hum, buzz, etc.
