Billy Preston RIP
« on: June 09, 2006, 08:41:39 AM »
I have just heard of the sad death of Billy Preston. He was a superb keyboard player- a specialist in the Hammond. He was 59 years old and had played with both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones ( electric piano parts on "Get Back" for example). He appears on the George Harrison tribute concert DVD and his performance of George's "Isn't It A Pity" is supreme. Another candidate for the role of  "5th Beatle" ( now there's a clue). Rest in peace Billy.

Yeah, Billy Preston was great. I'm sure either John, George or Ringo said that Billy was the guy who kept the Beatles together at one stage.

Also recently played on the Chili Peppers song 'Warlocks'.

Shame, a sad day for sure.
