With the Subdecay you easily have a distortion pedal that is easily a match for, if not better than most of the pedals mentioned here.

I like the boutique stuff. Amongst my collection I have;

Fulltone Fulldrive II
Fulltone Fulldrive II Mosfet edition
Demeter Fuzzulator
Frantone Vibutron
HBE Mos Dos
and will soon be adding a TRex Replica.
VHII's, Nailbomb's & Irish Tours :-)

I just ordered one of these to go with my Epiphone valve jr., and it should sound interesting through my Zvex nano head too.  Out of all the sound samples I listened too the blackstar seemed to cover the most ground.

OK, presently stuck in a boutique wonderland.  As far as overdrives go I would heartily recommend:

BJF Electronics Honey Bee (www.bjfelectronics.com) - modelled after an old Supro amp, this is a sweet sounding overdrive, great for Stones-y crunch, and also the most fantastic thing to put after fuzzes because it can tame the excesses of a really wild fuzz but still sound really wild.

Blackstone - this is a great two channel overdrive, great for using into a clean amp.  Not super heavy distortion but a nice breaking up sound. (www.blackstoneappliances.com).

For fuzzy goodness you have to try a Lovepedal Karl (www.lovepedal.com) - this is an excellent fuzz with nice ring-moddish overtones, particularly when you let the notes ring and you get a nice swell effect.

A good place to order from is www.tonefactor.com - reasonable prices, reasonable shipping and good to deal with.

The best boutique gear in terms of pedals is definitley Keeley, Moog, Zvex, MJM and RMC (real mcoy custom) for wha!

here are all the boutique pedals I currently own and often use:

01. RMC3 custom wha
02. Keeley Fuzz Head

I plan to eventually buy the Keeley Java Boost, the Keeley Compressor, the Zvex Fuzz Factory (for silly sounds) and MJM make some phenominal sounding pedals for the price! I also plan to get the Moog ring modulator pedal that they have brought out recently.

In terms of boutique amps, older Mesa's are amazing, so are Cornford, Matchless and Hughes and Valliant. These amps all cost serious money though but my favourite is the cornfords.

The conford Harlequin is ground breaking in terms of value and tone. If you ever heard 'watermelon in easter hay' by Frank Zappa, then that's the type of tone that amp can give you! the Carriera is even better than the Harlequin but it's too expensive for my budjet. Damn!

I used to have a V-Stack BHM. Great, quite unique pedal:

Now I only use my amp's own overdrive:

However, I'd love to try a Silver LTD by Barber, as my amp's rather a modern rocker with a high-headroom clean channel, and the LTD is supposed to be the ultimate low-gain OD pedal:

Hi hunter, my fave RMC3 setting is the factory standard, but there's lots more to try yet! only just getting use to my new bareknuckles, I remember really liking the smooth and sweet, the hendrix one and I think the picture wha settings. I'm trying to make my own sound with the RMC3 with some amazing results, at the moment it sounds like youoy sound. Brilliant, just like an alien. Check the mp3 clips of the sixties vibe pedal by mjm! http://www.mjmguitarfx.com/mjm_sixties_vibe.html and the octavia clone
http://www.mjmguitarfx.com/mjm_roctavios_octaver.html I own the MJM octavia. It's phenominal. (if you like that kinda sound)
