Bare Knuckles in my ESP
« on: July 01, 2006, 09:32:54 AM »
Hey, I  only discovered Bare Knuckle yesterday but have been so impressed with what I have seen I want some! But I need your opinion first!

I currently have emgs in my guitar and have read that the WARPIG are like emgs etc but better but from the soundclips I have heard I think I prefer the NAILBOMB. I have a MAHOGANY BODY guitar and play stuff like Metallica and loads of DOWNTUNED stuff (well mainly drop d). I also need a good SHRED pickup, this is quite important. Do you think the NAILBOMB would be best for me? or do you have any other suggestions?

Also i dont know if it would be a good idea to get the calibrated set or to have the nailbomb in the bridge and a different pickup in the neck? what would be better? and if you think i should go for a different pickup what would work best with the nailbomb and meet my requirements?

Finally i have noticed that the pickups come in a variety of styles! i cant decide which one would look best in my guitar though. here is a pic of my guitar...what do you think would look best?

I have noticed in the gallery you can get custom finishes? how do you order these and do any come with a ceramic cover (ie like emgs?)

depends for what type of metal you play, but check out the Miracle Men as well.  They are the most defined and the tightest. So they will handle really low tunings with effortless abbadon.  They are also an excellent shred PU as the mid runs are very smooth and the PU keeps things very tight and accurate.

As you might tell from its name it based on Zakk Wylde style of music with lots of harmonics and fast runs.
Im sorry to be persistant...but I'm on a mission to build the most badass guitar of all time.

well ive heard Tim and Steve constantly recommend the Cold Sweat for a shred pickup (in the neck)... they always say thats fabulous... so id go with that for shred...

then id go with Nailbomb/Warpig/Miracle Man in the bridge depending on (like matt asked) what kind of metal you play....

Check out the Miracle Man nd Nailbomb clips in the players room for starters, if you're a fan of '81 or at least used to their power then the MM won't dissapoint.
As for finishes, we don't use the plastic casings like EMG but we do offer a mean black cover plus numerous custom finishes, most of which are shown in the shop order page.Worth a trawl through the gallery too.Email/PM me if there's anything specific you'd like done.

No problem, that's quite a common request-just pop a note in the comments box saying battle worn and we'll do the rest.
Miracle Man is great for drop tunings!!

I bet you guys have fun doing that to a set of covers!  By the way, I think a set with the aged nickel would look awsome in that guitar, but the distressed black would look great too.
If this is blue, you're going too fast

I think a few people here use NB's in their LP's with no problems.

ok think im going to go with the MM...but what i cant still decide is if i should get a MM in the neck or go for a cold sweat? need something for shredding (fast alternate picking, sweep picking all that shiz lol) i was thinking about the cold sweat in the neck and MM in bridge but dont know if they would be suited as the MM is quite hight output and when i switch to the neck i dnt want there to be a huge diff etc if u get what i mean? im rubbish at explaining!

they should go together... i think it was HJM who had an RG with a warpig bridge and Cold Sweat neck, so it'll probs work ... and if you ask nicely, i'm sure tim will make sure they match for you :D
