Irish Tour HB sound??
« on: July 09, 2006, 04:35:57 PM »
hi, still deciding which HB for my new OLP....

which HB (when split) would sound like the Irish Tour SC??

and also, would it be possible to have a 'broken' cover on it, so that it shows the reverse zebra underneath, but still has a cover over part of it... hard to explain, i'll knock up a photoshop for it in a sec....

Cheers

I would lean towards a Black Dog.

You would need something hot, like a crawler. You'll never get a true single coil tone from a HB, even when split because of the fact that a single coil has the coil wound around the magnetic rod and not sat on top of it like a humbucker.

As for the cover... we probably could do it, but I wouldnt like to because it would be very sharp and you would probably injure yourself on it!

You could always round off the edges so its not sharp I guess, wouldnt look the same though.

well that pic makes it look different from what's inside my head.

i was sorta thinking of how you could take the battle-worn look a step further, by having a 'smashed' look (like when you drop a cup or something and it breaks in two) but with more of the 2 underlying coils covered than on there

yeah, something along those lines, except a completely ruined finish, with burnt screws...
