A Cold Sweat Clip
« on: July 23, 2006, 11:34:12 AM »
I managed to knock up a clip in Cubase. This is my first this year I think!

Anyway, it's 'Still Of The Night' from 1987. Well part of it, I cut it off when it goes all synthy. There's a few mess ups and my monitor is causing some interference.

Guitar is a Richwood LP With BKP Cold Sweats. It was the Bridge pickup throughout

Amp, my lovely black Koch. A Powertone II. Gain channel, with everything maxed out. A touch of reverb.

Recorded in Cubase via a E-MU 1820 soundcard with a downloaded backing track.

Sorry about the abrubt ending. I did try and fade it but I haven't got time right now to learn that bit.

$%&#ing Hails John
i liked the riffage a lot.
but the distortion EQ is kinda Brittle/harsh. maybe the mic? maybe the amp settings itself?
try it with less highs. and less mids.
where did you positioned the high, middles, bass knobs!?

I like it!

Would like to hear that double-tracked, and panned left and right.

One thing, Johnny ... I think that one channel of the backing track may be out of phase. You can bounce the stereo backing track to two mono tracks, and reverse the phase of one of 'em ... it should eliminate those really indistinct high hat and cymbal crashes.

Thanks JP  :D

I had all on the B/M/T and Presence on 10! I know I shouldn't but I like the way it sounds like that! I recorded it via the direct out on the attenuator. With a 4x12 cab sim' and straight mike sim'.

Thanks Ben!  :D

To double-track it, would I have to record those guitar parts twice? Or can I just copy the audio file of the guitar into another channel in Cubase?

I'm not sure how I do the bouncing thing yet Ben! But I'd have a go if you can help me out! lol

AHHHH Yah
i donŽt know if you notcied but you have a very Powerfull Amp.
i noticed from the tone i heard on your clips. past and present.

and it has a very Pronounced Snarling~growling sound.
thick mid/bass lots of mids, and snarling highs
am i right?
Thick Middy/bass and TIGHT as hell.
a mix between a SOLDANO SL and a Mesa Boogie single rectifier ?!?!?

Yeah something like that   It does sweet sounding stuff too but is a F***ing  PDT_045  animal which is why I bought it.  8)

I had a good tweak with it tonight with the Rebel Yells. You can get some amazing tones with some playing around on the controls! I'm too used to the Miracle Man that might be the problem!

My rooms overheating again. Amp plus PC and me, it gets too much! I bet your used to it JP!

Now then, have you decided on a pickup?  :wallbash:

Yeah. iŽll get the Nailbomb/trilogy COmbo.
but iŽm waiting until the PAINKILLER and the site revamps.. so iŽll decide between the Nailbomb and painkiller by hearing the soundclips
