I just bought a calibrated set of rebel yell pickups to replace my seymour duncan jb and sh2jazz pickups in a schecter classic guitar. I ordered the neck pickup uncovered for a bigger more resonant sound and the bridge covered with raygun etching. I also asked for the pole pieces in gold. It should look awesome when I get them installed. I will post picks once I get everything setup.

Do you guys think the uncovered neck will make tapping sound clearer and in your face similiar to Steve Vai and EVH?

I thought so. I get close to that sound when I use the neck positions on my single coil strat and double hb schecter.

Im currently working on the solo actually. I got the rythm down by heart just need a little time for the solo. I can play Bodhisattva, another one of my fav steely dan tunes.

use the bridge pickup for everything lead wise even if u like the sound of the neck for a few months.. and u'll soon hear how much it's cleaned your playing up.. the bridge pickup on any guitar seems to hide your mistakes a lot less than the neck.

just my 2cents..

the Rebel Yell neck is suposed to be very similar to the cold sweat and yea thats a great neck pickup for shredding on etc..

I noticed that too, its like laying a huge safety blanket over your guitar. I'll try playing the bridge more. Thanks

A lot of neck pick ups out there sounds muddy.
Not the BKP's.
I'm using R.Y., VHII, and Mule neck pickups in diff LP's and Jackson V's. These works great for lead playing as well.
For rock and metal the R.Y. is killer, it has a bit more drive, and it still is fat and clear. Great harmonics on top!
IMO, lead playing is no problem with these at all...
