Volume pots for Irish Tours
« on: October 03, 2006, 07:45:37 AM »
Hi everyone,

As you know I have decided to swap out my pickups for some Irish Tours and I was wondering what volume pots I would need and if I would need to change mine.

Unfortunately I am not sure what volume pots are in my strat at the moment.

All I can do is give you a link a shop page : http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/70s-stratocaster/1045

Thank you,

Your help would be much appreciated,

Thanks in Advance,

JiMi,

I guess, to some extent, it depends on the tone you're looking for.

I seem to recall my pre-wired Mothers came with  500K pots?

I am looking for a Rory Gallagher sound and SRV Texas Blues sound mainly but I also want to be able to get a decent Classic and hard rock sound as well

So what would you recommend??

Your Strat will have standard 250K pots in all positions, and if that's a Mexican Strat I'm pretty sure they'll be good-quality US made parts.

500K pots would theoretically open out the sound and make it a bit brighter, but also possibly a little harsh/glassy.  I wouldn't think there'd be any reason to change the 250Ks unless you're unhappy with the Irish Tours when you fit them.

And I'm sure you won't be unhappy with them.   :D
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM
