Quick & dirty Holy Diver clip

Finally got the ability to get recordings onto PC, so recorded this as a test - apologies for the quality (didn't spend any time on amp settings, mic placement etc), the scr@ppy playing & the Obituary inspired riff :-)

Good old Obituary  I love them because it's easy to play and it's great when you are bored and want to annoy your neighbors
Nice to ear that kind of HolyDiver sample.

Quite funny how nobody has done any Dio even though the pickup is named after a Dio song!

I know, if I got this pickup, Holy Diver is the first clip I'd do.. just like if I got a Cold Sweat I'd do that one, and I'm planning on doing a Gov't Mule clip with my Mules when I get a good mic..

I got a question too, do you roll off the tone like Obituary used to do back in the days? (89... I feel... old  )

No, everything on 10 :) - I probably had a sludgy amp setting & could've placed the mic better....

OK, here is an even quicker & dirtier Holy Diver clip.  I was trying to get a slightly more "rockier" tone when I buggered my strat :( so I swapped back to the Les Paul Goldtop (chrome HD set) & played the first Dio that came into my head.

My memory of Dio is rather vague - IIRC saw them at Manchester Apollo on the Dream Evil tour & at Donnington '87  but I was always more of a thrash fan - we really need Feline or Twilight (or Tim!) to knock up some HD clips for the '80s rock vibe... :)

Enjoy, I'm off to repair the strat

I think that a lot of people have the wrong idea about the Holy Diver.

It's a seriously punchy, powerful pickup with plenty of output (more than a Nailbomb), a massive thick tone & tons of low/mids.

Actually, I think Tim is missing a trick (from a marketing perspective) with the name Holy Diver - When I think "Dio", I think of lights/pyros, Vinnie Appice's massive drum kit, & little Ronnie smiting papier maché dragons with his plastic sword  but I don't always remember that before he became anonymous in Def Leppard, Vinnie Campbell was a serious lead guitarist who could shred with the best of them - perhaps that was what Tim had in mind when he chose the name... :)

Either way, much as I like the MM & NB, the HD is my favourite - the unsung hero of BKPs :)
