floyd problem!! help please!!!
« on: October 16, 2006, 08:52:01 PM »
ok, ive replaced the pickups with the vh11s, but while the strings were out, the bridge popped out, its easy to fit as the strings and springs hold it in place but there seems to be a small e-clip that popped out from somewhere. cant for the life of me see where it came from

its a yamaha rgx with a liscenced floyd rose. does anyone know where it might go?  :(

The only thing I can think of on any of my guitars that uses an e-clip are Dunlop Straplocks...

Could it be part of a mechanism to hold/tighten the arm into the sleeve?  Sorry, don't have a Yamaha so can't give you any specific help...

thanx for the speedey reply guys :)

sorry i dont have a digital camera. i know its hard to say without seeing it! just wondered if it was common to come off! the clip looks too small to hold the bridge on and i cant see anywhere it would even fit. but ive put it back together and it seems to work fine. just stretchin the strings before i give it a blast!!

This is what I understand an "e-clip" to be...

maybe somethin to hold the arm in place or at least stop it swinging around?

yep thats an e-clip. its only bout 6mm internal diameter, its too small for anything i can see! the arm swngs about anyway, so i screwed a bolt on the back of the thread, and used the old spring that goes on the pickup to keep it tight :D

its stays in tune even after pushing the bar right down and the strings are hangin off so much u can get your bloody finger behind them so its workin ok! if it falls apart ill let you know!! :!:

the pickups sound wicked, much clearer and brighter than the stock ones!  they sound much better than they did in my ibanez, and i thought that sounded nice. i think the alder body contributes allot to the tone. it was suprisingly easy to change them. i done it in an hour!!

just 1 more thing, any idea what height should i set the pickips from the strings?

Just had a thought: could the e-clip have come off one of the pots? (i.e. been clipped to the shaft of the pot under the pickguard instead of a washer?)
