celestion greenbacks
« on: November 01, 2006, 02:51:20 AM »
hey, im after any information and personal opinions anyone can give me about celstion greenbacks. I am putting new speakers in my vox ac30 and i am leaning towards putting greenbacks in instead of alnico blues coz i use a java boost mainly and use the vox for more crunchy distorted sounds (sounds like an old marshall with the java boost, the way a marshall is meant to sound). If anyone strongly objects and thinks the blues (or any other speaker for that matter) would be better please let me know.

Greenbacks (G12M) sound pretty cr@p in open backed cabs imo.  For the same price you could buy G12H-30s and they will cope very well with an open backed cab and have a higher power handling too.

Saying all that, I would get Alnico Blues for an AC30 if you want THAT tone.

I personally disagree.  I think Greenbacks sounded pretty good in the AC30s, but I don't like them in much else.  The G12H30s seem to be way better in everything else though, so I wouldn't advise against them in an AC30.
Real men turn their volume to 11!
