Warpigs clean sound?
« on: December 22, 2006, 02:42:21 PM »
Anyone have any insight on how the cleans are on these pickups? I've read all about them as far as getting a good refined heavy sound but I have not herd much as far as a clean sounds go. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

Apparently they've got a great clean sound, popular with jazz players in France it seems.  8)

I always find it funny that whenever the topic of Warpig cleans comes up we always mention French Jazz players... I know why but in a few years this will become folklore and nobody will remember the origin yet I'm sure the story will persist.

I can't wait till a thread starts with:

I've played the Warpig clean, and it sounds just fine. I'm not sure if there is a specific question in there.

well i guess what i mean by clea is a nice warm clean sound. I'm into music like Isis and Mastodon and I'm always looking for good refined warm clean tone with some punch.

I would steer you towards a Riff Raff or Black Dog, then. They will do exactly what you describe, esp the Riff Raff!

I get absolutely beautiful sounds out of the my neck Warpig which I usually run tapped when I want cleans.  I run my amps loud and with a moderate amount of dirt so I use the neck pickup tapped with the volume backed off a bit as my "clean" channel and my bridge pickup (also a pig) as my "dirty" channel....I couldn't be happier with the sound.  If you use your volume pots I recommend getting a kit from RS Guitarworks they sound a lot better when rolled down than most stock pot/capacitors that come in guitars.  My sound is along the same lines you're looking for so I don't think you'll have a problem with the pigs at all.
Maximum volume yields maximum results.

The french jazzers run them in parralell.

I have a ceramic pig with parrallel option in the bridge of a guitar and its got a great clean.

Series A5 is extremely good for such a powerfull pickup. Easliy the best clean tone of any full on flamethrower out there. I really like it. But I tend to go for singles for the best clean tones.
